the surreal czechs

This is the work of Katerina Pinosová, born 30th november, 1973 in Prostejov, Czech Republic. She is a member of Group of Czech and Slovak Surrealists since 1996. These are some of the works I loved. The colors and shapes of the eyes are brilliant..the animals and desert like landscape looks a lot like paintings by the Gond tribals in Madhya Pradesh, India. not only does she draw and paint, but she also makes as mentioned on the website 'objects' and jewellery. The jewellery also has motifs which in India seem very familair, but I like the way she strings the different colored beads innovating with two strings which gives the stuff a very neat and finished look, instead of putting it on just a black thread. They are also up for sale on the site, if anyone is interested.
You can see her complete work here and also if you gohere, though the site is in czech, on the left sidebar are the names of the artists associated with them. One of them has an interesting website and some of you might even find the work interesting.
And then there is also this young director called Václav Švankmajer, son of the famous czech surrealist animator filmmaker Jan Svankmajer (famous for his films Alice, Faust, more recently Conspirators of Pleasure and Little Otik and lots of shorts which are not easily available like the Flat). I like his graphics works more than his paintings and it looks like he's made some interesting films as well. If anyone has links to where I can download or access them please be kind enough to leave them here!
If you have the time look up Jan Svankmajer however you'll have to scout for the movies yourself...
