FROM STONE TO PAPER

not essentially in this order

1. The prepared stone

2. Separating the print from the stone

3. Initial sketch / study

4. The final print

FLIGHTLESS CORMORANT
One of the earth's rarest birds.

This was done as part of a two week elective course. My first and till now only attempt at printmaking. The amount of work that went into grinding the stones, and preparing them- never before put in that much effort for preparing for a work.

first effort but brilliant results....
how big the stone was?
i was trying to experiment with texture..so i tried the ink wash technique..mixing the ink with water and leaving it to dry...and for the background also some texture with cloth...the stone was around 15*10 inches vaguely
